Durga Khote was born with name Vita Lad in Mumbai, Maharashtra in a traditional and well-settled joint family that originated from Goa and they mostly communicate in Konkani in the house.
She completed her higher school from Cathedral High School and later joined St. Xavier's College for graduation in Arts. During her college time she got married to Vishwanath Khote.
She was settled with her husband and soon became mother of two sons Harin Khote & Bakul Khote but unfortunately when she was 26, her husband died.
After the sudden demise of her husband, she got responsibility of two sons that is the reason she accepted working in film industry.
But that time was not good for women working in film industry so she faced many hurdles in her starting career but she overcame all those.
She single-handedly raised her sons and helped them to settle down. Her elder son Harin Khote married to Vijaya Jaywant and sooner the couple blessed with two sons.
But unfortunately, Harin died in his 40s and later her wife married to a Parsi guy Farrokh Mehta and became Vijaya Mehta, who is a renowned film-maker of Bollywood.
